I have always wanted to pretend I was stranded on a desert island, but is the game good enough to re-enact this well?
For those of you who have the game, let me know please! What's your opinion on it?

I thought about buying it, but then the guys over at MATY extracted a lot of the stuff out of it and made them compatable for the sims 2, so I downloaded that stuff and absolutly love it!!! Granted you don't get the "storyline" like CS, but you can make up your own, and if you have BV then the stuff works out great... Here is a couple pictures for my game, everything works and the animations are halarious!!!

the thing that i don't get, is... is it like sims, or a sims console game where you have to complete goals? i'd be interested in getting it if it were a bit like a console game, but if you can get the same game on a console, i'd rather do that.
by the way dragonfly, thanks for the link! i can't wait to get these things in my game!

Foolinthemoon, the games are similar, but they arent the same. I just got Castaways for the PC and my advice to everyone is wait until its on sale It's a good story line and all, and it takes longer to play through than life stories, but there is only 1 story, where Life and Pets stories have 2. That being said, i do like it. There is no money, everything is bought by resources, your jobs only last 3 hours and you get resources and food from them, you can 'adopt' Hyena's and monkeys, and the story line is pretty good, but I like the console game much better, I played through the PC version and it feels like there arent any suprises left, its all the same as sims, with a few execptions which you find in the story anyway. The Console version of castaways is much more fun and exciting in my opinion.

Well, I finally got Castaways. It was the very last one on the shelf. Don't know anything about it yet, except the tutorial ... which I really didn't need to run through, but ... oh, well, it didn't hurt. I hope I get a chance to play it soon!

A bit of an update here. Welll ... unlike Sims Life Stories which I thoroughly enjoyed the story driven aspect of, this one I find, so far, a bit frustrating. Especially the movie part, which is quite dibilitating to me. I guess it's like Movies ... the first one is fantastic, but the sequels are never quite as good. Don't get me wrong, I am quite happy it's story driven, otherwise I wouldn't quite know what to do with it, but it's not written as well, or something about it is a bit stressful. That does not mean to say, though, that I am not enjoying it, because it is a Sims game, after all and at some point, once I get through the story driven part, I'll be able to check out the play action on my own. Well, I just wanted to say that even though I felt this game a bit "choppy"; as with all Sims games, it is still very addictive and I looked forward to each part of the "story" to see what my Sim would need to accomplish, whether or not I could get him through that or not and to see what would happen next. At the end of the story, when all's said and done ... I felt deflated because it was over and I wanted it to continue. Soooo.... I guess it wasn't too bad after all! It did leave me wishing that EA had not dropped Life Stories ... because I'm wanting more!!

Thank you for your update Okie! I have Castaways for PS2, and I've never even played it! I keep saying I will, but I haven't. Bad me!
Oh, and so you know, instead of double posting, just use the modify button at the top of your post, and you can add or make changes. Thanks!

Thank you for pointing that out, because I will most likely want to come back and add more thoughts/reviews/info as I go along!! (I guess I probably should have started a whole new thread ... but thought this might help in the decision as to whether to buy it or not (but it might not even be available for purchase anymore!) ... or ... help someone who has it, but has never played it, decide whether to go ahead and play it or not! ;D
