Hello fellow Simmers and The simmer club....ers
I was totally, 100% pleased with the Bon Voyage chat transcript (except for babies not being able to go on vacation )
OK, to me the transcript is hard to remember all the things said and I lose my place when I'm reading it (Too long!)
So, I have simplified it for all of your enjoyment (Also because I'm very bored )
Here we go! (Most I put in my own words while others were just copied from the transcript )
Things we Know that can happen in the Sims 2 Bon Voyage:
1- The release date depends on where you live. Amazon sells on September 4th, so that is probably the earliest.
2- The new camera is like the university career reward camera! No film to buy and it's free!
3- Your Sims will be allowed to save on Hotels, Vacation Homes or campgrounds.
4- Sims can get married while on vacation.
5- Sim can get pregnant while on vacation. (But will not give birth as time does not change while on vacation. They will give birth only when they are back home.)
6- Sims can go into Pirate Ships (Which, I suppose, are at the beach in the beach paradise Island.) And, according to MaxoidSam, they can find secrets in them!
7- Hotels are very similar to Dorms. You get first choice of rooms before other people arrive. As people check into the hotel with you their room will disappear. You will be able to knock on doors like you did in University.
8- If you have Seasons, weather will change in the vacation neighborhoods.
9- You can hire an adult, elder or nanny of your choice to take care of the babies/toddlers while on vacation.
10- You can own more than one vacation home in different locations, and you can build vacation homes yourself.
11- The three vacation spots are:
Twikki Island, the tropical paradise (beaches, pirate ships, luxury hotels etc.)
Takemizu Village, The Far East (Meditation, Chinese/Japanese food, bamboo etc.)
Three Lakes, A Mountain Area/Campground (Axe throwing, log rolling, tents, campfire etc.)
12- A couple of the new NPC's: Ninjas, Bell hops, tour guides, Wise Old Men, a witch doctor and Big Foot (which might be the EP creature....but IDK)
13- You can modify unowned vacation homes and community lots. When you own a vacation home you have to visit it to be able to modify it (like open for business). Hotels are like Dorms and can be redecorated but you have to use cheats to actually rebuild them.
14- New Pagoda Roof style! (It's the roof style they use on Far East vacations) And there are new roof textures.
15- Bees are new! GAH! Bees!
16- Children can do as much as the adults can do on vacation like learn Tai-chi and how to teleport and dance like the locals
17- New woohing places: (YAY!)
Tents, saunas, and hammocks
18- Since time does not change while Sims are on vacation, they will not give birth, get fired from their jobs etc. But they CAN die on vacation.
19- There are new food in Bon Voyage (For the far east, sushi/noodles/rice, for the camping maybe fish and for the paradise maybe margaritas, fruit etc.)
20- If you have Seasons, you can fish while on vacation.
21- Toddlers through elders can wear jewelry.
22- Sims can tan, but also can get sun burnt.
23- It can snow on the beach, but probably only if you have Winter as one of the seasons set for that neighborhood.
24- There are other tourist families that may stay at the same hotel (Your Sims might just meet up with there neighbor friends! ;D)
25- Tents and other objects can also be used in non-vacation neighborhoods. (Tents, massage beds, tea set etc.) And as one of the Maxoids said, almost all of the objects can be used on residential lots, but may function differently than on the vacation lot.
26- Each hotel is different. The room price is based on the stuff in the hotel room and the size of the hotel room. Each hotel description has a little guide to how expensive it is to stay at it. It helps when planning your trip
27- You can learn the ways of the Ninjas (What the heck? )
28- Your Sims will have a want to go on a honeymoon, so I'm guessing that going on vacation with a spouse will automatically be recognized as a Honeymoon.
29- For the Hotel rooms, you can bring up to 8 Sims on a vacation. You can have 8 Sims in one room or you can get 8 rooms for each Sims, and every other way in between!
30- You can use one of the terrains we've provided that can accommodate beaches to build a neighborhood. Not all neighborhoods will accommodate beach lots.
31- If your family invites friends on the vacation with them, you can not control all Sims fully, but you can see the non-family Sims wants, fears and needs.
32- You can make custom vacation neighborhoods, but only the 3 Maxis-made ones have the secret lots.
33- Your Sims take their whole wardrobe with them (YAY!)
34- Eating new foods in each place can contribute to your Vacation Mementos. Sims unlock mementos on their travels and build up their "savvy traveler" status.
35- You can take an off-lot boat tour or you can play in the Pirate Ship.
36- There are lots of new vacation related wants and fears.
37- The longest you can go on a vacation is 7 days. But you can take one right when you get home if you can afford it!
38- You can leave a vacation any time you want. (early, but never can you leave late)
39- You will not be sent home if you run out of cash, but you get a bill when you return home.
40- There are new clothes available that fit with vacation themes. You can go to the mountains and buy a lumberjack outfit for example. Or, head downtown and buy a hula skirt before heading to the tropics so you'll fit right in.
41- You can invite NPC's to your vacation, but you can't control them.
42- Sims can sunbathe, build sandcastles, look for seashells, and swim on the beach!
43- They say the waves look beautiful at night! I can't wait to take pictures! ;D
44- We added the ability to Give Gifts as an interaction in Seasons and add it to Bon Voyage too. Your Sims will be able to give away anything that is in their inventory.
45- New terrain and pirate outfits!
46- Jewelry is more like Clothing. You can buy individual pieces from a Jewelry Rack. For a jewelry store with Open for Business you will just use jewelry racks. Jewelry will not appear in your Sim's inventory.
47- Sims can call for room service! But they said they bring food, so I guess they cant bring anything else Oh, and you call for room service by using the Hotel Room phone.
48- The Maxis-Made vacation neighborhoods' weather is changeable, but the only seasons pattern remembered was for the Beach vacation, which was two summers and two springs.
That means hot hot hot stuff and some rain!
49- Your Sims will be able to dig up rocks, dog bones, sculptures, secret maps, or (if they're lucky) a treasure chest!
50- Several new furniture themes.
51- Walking between lots works just like the Taxi except you don't' have to call anyone. You can click on your Sim and choose "Walk to...". You get the dialog you normally get with the taxi to choose where you want to go, then choose who you are taking with you, then you can just walk off the lot!
52- The treasure in the treasure chest is worth a lot of simoleans! ;D
53- More than one family can vacation, but not at the same place.
54- Tours last from 2-3 Sim hours.
55- The secret maps (which can be dug up) lead to secret lots, 1 per vacation neighborhood.
56- Once you get to the hotel, click on the door of the room you want to stay in. Once you've done that, click on the bell hop to check in. Piece of cake.
57- In the vacation neighborhoods, you can walk to any lots except vacation homes.
58- There is a starfish you can find on the beach but it's not alive. The only new wildlife are the bees and cranky crab you might run into while searching for seashells.
59- VOODOO DOLLS! But you can't use them too much, because they can backfire.
60- Any home can be a vacation home, but are not "vacation homes" until they are in a vacation neighborhood.
61- Sims can drown in the ocean (can't wait to see that!)
62- Sim can marry locals.
63- Yes, the other shells you find on the beach or souvenirs you buy come home as decorative items too. There's even a new collection shelf you can use to display your fancy new things.
64- There are food places to eat on the beach.
65- Sims attending University can go on vacation (But, once again, time will not move)
66- Secret lots are exclusive to vacation destinations. You can still place your own hotels, vacation homes and community lots into custom destinations to enjoy your own vacation neighborhood. Things like NPCs, special foods and stuff will appear in your custom neighborhoods based upon which destination "theme" you've picked.
67- You can make yourself a massage parlor (using the massage table from bon voyage) but only if you have OFB (AHHH I CANT WAIT TO DO THAT!)
Things we know we can't do in the Sims 2 Bon Voyage:
1- Toddlers/Babies can not go on vacation or vacation homes.
2- Pets will also not be able to go on vacation.
3- You can't live on vacation homes full time, just up to the maximum number of vacation days (A week) And, once again, you cannot bring toddlers, babies, or pets.
4- VERY sadly, you can't run your own Hotel, even if you have OFB
5- No sharks
6- You can't live on a vacation neighborhood, but you can visit as much as you can afford!
7- You can not avoid paying for your vacation. Bills always win
Well, thats it! 67 good things but only 7 bad things! But, you must remember not all the questions were asked/answered, and I think that all of the things you cant do in Bon Voyage can be fixed with a simple hack from MTS2.com ;D
I seriously can NOT wait for Bon Voyage to come out. I'm more excited about this than when they announced Seasons! I think this will be the best to me by far.Bye everybody! Hope you enjoyed and that you think this is a lot easier to read/get around than the transcript! ;D
P.S. The numbers that are Italicized and underlined are copied from the Maxoids/SimMasters in the chat transcript.
