It might work on Windows 8 but since I do not own Windows 8, it might not. As I do not have Sims Deluxe or the Complete Collection, I can't say if this works for them, but I don't see why not. I doubt they used totally different systems. But I can't promise you they didn't change something.
The Aero Desktop Theme of Windows 7 prevents the installation. This is the theme that lets you preview what's open in the window or program when you hover over it. Something related to that throws the game for a loop and it won't even install.
If you change the theme to Basic, the game installs!
To change it go to Control Panel ---> Appearance and Personalization ---> Personalization
Just change it to one of the Basic and High Contrast Themes and you should be good to go.
Definitely looks impressive. Especially CAS and building. I like how you can move rooms by dragging them and how you can just click on the body part you want to change and it changes instead of being limited to only certain specific body parts.
Not sure how I like the look of the Sims, but Sims 3 had the same impression when I first saw them and I don't have a problem with their looks now that they aren't new. And EA doesn't have a great track record for making good looking Sims. So who knows how much of my mixed feelings is from that vs how they actually look.
Not enough game play to really make a good judgement, but the emotions might be interesting depending on just how they affect things.
2. Leave the drama on other sites. The Simmers Club is a drama free zone. We will nip any and all drama in the bud.
3. The forum is PG-13.
4. No Hotlinking.
5. Spell words out. Not everyone's first language is English so they might not get that ur is your or u is you. We also don't have a character limit so there is no reason to use text or twitter abbreviations for words.
6. Use common sense when it comes to double posting. Unless at least 36 hours have passed and you've got new material for the thread, you're better off editing your last post. Stories, creation showcases, and affiliate threads, may ignore this rule if they have something new to show.
I had up to Generation N written and uploaded... to the Sims 2 Exchange. I have up to Generation E on Wordpress at the time I initially posted this. Chapters come slowly as it's tedious to convert the back ups I have to actual chapters. But don't worry, I will finish the conversion.
Writing style is also liable to change once I get to the chapters I do not have back ups for. And then again when I catch up to where I've played. I've been favoring plot based stories to commentary lately.
And once I catch up with where I am in the game (generation R has been born), I may actually play more regularly. Tediousness of chapter conversion really puts a dampen on wanting to play. But I will finish this legacy! I didn't recreate it three times to give up on it! I'm on the home stretch already.
Please excuse the low quality of the earliest chapters, I was new to making stories and therefore made all of the newbie mistakes. It is highly commentary, unlike my Sims 3 story.

Spode: It's a shame that this forum died. Probably because everyone either A) went to Facebook or B) went to Reddit. Definitely not message board loyalists.
